Why Atheist Scientists Still Rely on Christian Assumptions
Description
Can you trust your own brain? Darwin himself famously struggled with a "horror of doubt"—if our minds evolved from lower animals, why should we trust their convictions any more than we’d trust the thoughts of a monkey?
In this provocative talk, we dive into the fundamental conflict between Naturalism (the belief that nature is all there is) and Science. We explore the idea that unguided evolution selects for "fitness"—the ability to survive and reproduce—rather than the ability to perceive objective truth. If our thoughts are just the byproduct of neurons firing for survival, the very foundation of scientific knowledge begins to crumble. We also look at how modern science "borrows" from the Christian worldview of a rational Designer to justify why the world is orderly and why our minds can understand it.
Speaker: Professor Vern Poythress of Westminster Theological Seminary.
