Becket Cook: Why I Left Homosexuality to Pursue God

Description

Becket Cook explains how his identity in Christ transformed his view of same-sex relationships, arguing that discipleship involves denying sinful desires and submitting every area of life to Jesus. God’s grace offers forgiveness, but it does not excuse a continual practice of sin.

While same-sex attraction is one of many sins, Cook notes that modern culture has tied it closely to personal identity, making it uniquely challenging to address. Only the Holy Spirit can separate a person’s identity from sinful desires and lead them toward transformation in Christ.

––––– ABOUT REALITY –––––

At STR’s Reality Conference, we show students that Christianity matches up with the way the world really is—with reality. It makes sense of the origin and design of the universe and life; the existence of objective truth and morality; the purpose, meaning, and value of human experience; the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus; and the existential longing of every human heart. In other words, we have reality on our side.
