Doctrines of the Unification Church
Description
Menu MoonStruck An Analysis of Rev. Moon's Unification Church Part 1 : Basic Errors Rev. Moon is a self-appointed Reverend who was born around 1920 in Korea. As a teenager, he claimed to have a vision of Jesus, begging Rev. Moon to complete Jesus' mission. Why have people given Rev. Moon millions of dollars for the purchase of a mansion and yachts? If you believe His own words, Rev. Moon has great credentials. He is "greater than Jesus" (Master Speaks 6/30/1973 p.4) Rev. Moon is "the Messiah, the Lord of the Second Advent" (120-Day Training Manual p.160,222). The following chart is an outline of the four parts. Part 1: Basic Errors 1 Basis 2 Creation 3 Two falls 4 Human history 5 Christ's first coming 6 Cross was Satan's victory 7 Communication with the spirit world endorsed 8 Holy Spirit is a female spirit 9 The Christian Trinity is false Part 2: True and False Saviors 1 Jesus is not God Himself 2 Jesus cannot save us physically 3 Satan invaded Jesus' & others bodies 4 Jesus; body not raised 5 Jesus will not return literally 6 Must be born anew without original sin 7 Need a savior besides Jesus 8 Rev. "Consequently, the most important matter of all is the viewpoint from which one interprets the Bible.... since it is absolutely incomprehensible to the intellect of modern men that the Lord would come on the clouds, it is necessary for us to consider the Bible in detail a second time..." DP p.500 "With the fullness of time, God has sent His messenger to resolve the fundamental questions of life and the universe. His name is Sun Myung Moon." DP p.16. "Jesus did not say that His word was the truth but that he himself was the truth, way and the life (John 14:6). This is because His words were only a means of expressing himself as the truth... We can understand that the New Testament was given as a textbook for the teaching of truth to the people of 2,000 years ago... In consequence, today the truth must appear with a higher standard and with a scientific method of expression in order to enable intelligent modern men to understand it." DP p.131 Refuted: Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." Luke 21:22 "Jesus replied, 'If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. ... He who does not love me will not obey my teaching." John 14:23-24 ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Creation: Underlying God and creation are dualities, such as positive & negative (DP p.21), external form & internal character (DP p.21), male & female (DP p.24), or yang & yin (DP p.26) as the I Ching talks about. The universe is God's "external feminine object" (DP p.25) which God as subject gives love as an emotional force to. Jargon: Origin-Division-Union Four-Position-Foundation Formation-Growth- Perfection Refuted: Creation is not the bride of Christ, believers are. Also, there are eight scientific contradictions in this section. ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Factual Errors in the Divine Principle 1. "For example: an atom comes to exist through the give and take action between a proton and an electron. This is the action of fusion." DP p.29 Problem: Fusion is the combining of protons and neutrons of two atoms. 2. During this process of revolution, the sun and planets become one unit, thus creating the solar system. The circular movement of the solar system ... constantly changes its angle of orbit around the sun. DP p.34 Problem: The planets are not all in a plane, but their angle from the solar ecliptic only moves within a narrow range, not a sphere. 3. "When a proton and an electron, by forming a reciprocal base, enter into give and take action with the proton as the center, there occurs a circular movement which makes the two into one unit, and thus an atom is produced." DP p.35 Problem: All atoms except Hydrogen-1 have neutrons too, which spoils his duality. Also, atoms with many electrons can have dumbbell shaped clouds, and not just spherical ones. 4. The proton and the electron also have dual essentialities which are engaged in continuous individual movement." DP p.34 Problem: Protons and neutrons consist of three quarks, not two parts. His comparison of the atom to the solar system is from pre-nuclear age physics. 5. "Before creating man, God made all things in the image and likeness of man's character and form. Therefore, man is the encapsulation of all things." DP p.44 Problem: Biologists would see this as conceited. Squid, mollusks, and wasps do not seem any more made in man's image than a dog's image. Was God and all the universe made for man, or were all things made for God? 6. "Therefore, man contains the structure, elements and essential qualities of animals. For example, man's vocal cords are so sophisticated that they are able to imitate the sounds of all the animals." DP p.44. Problem: Really? How about a bat, a dolphin and a whale? 7. "Man contains the structure, elements, and essential qualities of plants, also. For example, a plant's leaf, seen from its function, corresponds to the human lung. Just as a leaf absorbs carbon dioxide from the air, the human lung absorbs oxygen ." DP p.44 Problem: Carbon dioxide plus sunlight provide the food; we use oxygen to burn food. Leaves "breathe" in oxygen like animals too, not carbon dioxide. 8. "Man is also composed of earth, water, and air; conse-quently, he also contains min-eral elements. The structure of the earth, too, is similar to that of the human body. The earth's crust is covered with plants, underground waterways exist in the substrata, and beneath all this lies molten lava surrounded by rocks. This closely corresponds to the structure of the human body: the skin is covered with hair, blood vessels exist in the musculature, and still deeper lies the marrow within the skeleton." DP p.45 Problem: If underground waterways are like blood carrying nutrients and oxygen, molten lava does not supply water any more than it does blood cells. Lava moves, and bone marrow is stationary. Two Falls: There were two falls of man, not one. "Eve's fall consisted of two kinds of illicit love affairs. The first one was the spiritual fall through love with the archangel [Lucifer]. The second was the physical fall through love with Adam." DP p.241 Refuted: The real sin was disobedience, not a dietary or sexual action. ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Human History: Has three stages: man's fall to Christ's coming (Old Testament Age); Christ to the coming of the Lord of the Second Advent (New Testament Age); and the Lord of the second Advent onward (Completed Testament Age). "In this way, Charlemagene, [DP spelling] who had erected the kingdom on the foundation of the matured feudal system, could not tear down the barriers of feudalism. ... The Christian Kingdom thus having failed to establish the kingdom capable of receiving the Messiah of the Second Advent, the feudal system was more and more strengthened;" DP p.439. Refuted: Heb 13:20 says Jesus shed the blood of the eternal covenant. ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Christ's First Coming: DP p.143 "We, therefore, must realize that Jesus did not come to die on the cross." DP p.152 "...spiritual salvation through the cross, which was the secondary providence of salvation. (John 4:24) From the time of Jesus through the present, all Christians have thought that Jesus came to the world to die. This is because they did not know the fundamental purpose of Jesus' coming as the Messiah, and entertained the wrong idea that spiritual salvation was the only mission for which Jesus came to the world. Jesus came to accomplish the will of God in his lifetime, but had to die a reluctant death due to the disbelief of the people. ... We have clarified the fact that Jesus did not come to die, but if we ask Jesus directly through spiritual communication, we can see the fact even more clearly." Refuted: Acts 2:23,29-36; Acts 4:10-12; 1 Cor 15:3-4; Eph 1:20-23. If all Christians, including Paul and New Testament ones thought that, God deceived a lot of people. Messianic Prophecy: Isa 53:1-12; Dan 2:44-45,7:13-14,9:24-27 Jesus Failed: DP p.151 "In fact, Jesus was then resolved to take the cross as the condition of indemnity to pay for the accomplishment of even the spiritual salvation of man when he found that he was unable to accomplish the providence of both spiritual and physical salvation (Luke 9:31)." Refuted: Jesus completed His mission in John 17:4. Phil 3:20, 21 and Heb 9:28 show our complete salvation comes from the same Christ who died for us. "Therefore he [Jesus] is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." Heb 7:25 ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Satan's Victory: The Cross was Satan's Victory, not God's. (Home Study Course for the Divine Principle p.30, DP p.143, Dialogue, p.161) Refuted: Col 2:13-15, Col 1:20 Gal 6:14, "May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." Phil 3:18-19 says, "... many live as enemies of the cross of Christ." ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Communication with the Spirit-World (Spiritual/occult) endorsed. DP p.163 "Any Christian who, in spiritual communication, can see John the Baptist directly in the spirit world will be able to understand the authenticity of all these things." Moon is involved in spiritism (MS. 2/20/1973 p.7 DP p.529ff). Famed occultic spiritist Arthur Ford mentions Moon as a friend who has practiced the occultic arts with him. (Ford's book, Unknown But Known. Signet Mystic, 1968.) DP p.529 "Therefore, countless men of religion are receiving very clear revelations concerning the Lord's Second Coming in Korea in many different ways, by contacting many spirit men of various levels : from the realm of miscellaneous spirits to the realm of the paradise level spirits. Nevertheless, the leaders of the present Christian world, due to their spiritual ignorance, are still unresponsive, and have refused to pay heed to such things. This is similar to what happened in Jesus' day, when the chief priests and rabbis, who should have been the first to know of the coming of the Messiah, were entirely unaware of the fact due to their spiritual ignorance, while, on the other hand, the astrologers and shepherds knew of the message through revelations." Refuted: Lev 19:31, 20:6-7, Deut 18:11; Isa 8:19-20; Gal 5:20 ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ The Holy Spirit is a Female Spirit: DP p.215-216 "However, a father alone cannot give birth to children. There must be a True Mother with the True Father, in order to give rebirth to fallen children as children of goodness. She is the Holy Spirit." "There are many who receive revelations indicating that the Holy Spirit is a female Spirit; this is because she came as the True Mother, that is, the second Eve. Again, since the Holy Spirit is a female spirit, we cannot become 'the bride' of Jesus unless we receive the Holy Spirit. Thus, the Holy Spirit is a female spirit, consoling and moving the hearts of the people (1 Cor 12:3). She also cleanses the sins of the people in order to restore them, thus indemnifying the sin committed by Eve. Jesus, being male (positivity), is working in heaven, while the Holy Spirit, being female (negativity), is working on earth." Refuted: Acts 5:3-4, John 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:13; Acts 13:2 ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Christian Trinity is False: DP p.217 "Accordingly, in order to fulfill the purpose of creation, Jesus and the Holy Spirit must establish the four position foundation centered on God, by becoming one body in unity through the action of give and take, each as the object of God, substantially divided from His dual essentialities. In this manner, Jesus and the Holy Spirit become one body centered on God; this is called 'Trinity.'" However, due to the fall, Adam and Eve established the four position foundation centered on Satan, thus resulting in a trinity centered on Satan." Refuted: Matt 28:19, Mark 12:31-32 (See the Trinity charts) 2 Cor 13:4 "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." ...By Their Fruit You will Know Them If someone you loved were about to bite into a red, delicious-looking apple, with razor blades in the middle, would you warn them of their danger? In the same way, Rev. Moon's teachings might look inviting, but we are compelled to warn our friends of the spiritual razor blades in this apple. So, like the Bereans in Acts 17:10-12 were more noble in character than others because they checked Paul's teaching against scripture, you must check Rev. Moon's (as well as anybody else's) teaching against scripture. Seek the Son, Not Rev. Moon God is a God of truth; you have to want to seek God to find salvation. All of use were separated from God because of our sins, and because of God's holiness and justice, there is no natural way we can go to heaven. But God provided a way, through Jesus Christ's atoning death on the cross, to pay the penalty for our sins. Accept this wonderful gift, and the Holy Spirit will come into your life and begin the transformation process, and give you the new life God promised. Christian Debater(tm) www.BibleQuery.org. And we (that is, Christians) eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." Error: Since Satan invaded Jesus' body, His body was not raised. Jesus' body not raised: DP p.170 "Man has hitherto entertained the wrong idea that the expiration of man's physical life is the death brought about by the fall. Consequently, we have believed that the resurrection of the passed-away saints would be realized through the restorations of their once corrupted and decomposed physical bodies to their original state." DP p.360 "As we well know through the Bible, Jesus after the resurrection was not the same Jesus who had lived with his disciples before his crucifixion. He was no longer a man seen through physical eyes.... He once suddenly appeared in a closed room..." DP p.360-361 "Jesus, in order to save mankind, had established the spiritual foundation of faith..., after giving up his physical body to the cross as a sacrifice." DP p.147-148 "Because the Jewish people disbelieved Jesus and delivered him up for crucifixion, his body was invaded by Satan, and he was killed. Therefore, even when Christians believe in and become one body with Jesus, whose body was invaded by Satan, their bodies still remain subject to Satan's invasion." The Trinity is beyond human reasoning. Would you expect completely comprehend the True and Infinite God? We can understand what God has revealed about it though. 2. The word "Trinity" is not found in the Bible. Neither are the words Bible, a-tonement, rapture, or Millennium. The real issue is if the teaching is Biblical. 3. The concept of the Trinity is confusing. Three reasons: God's truth is often confusing to the unsaved, false teachers have added to the confusion, and many Christians unfortunately are ill-equipped to clearly explain. 4. It started at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. Actually the first implied reference is in Genesis, and the main teaching started with someone Thomas and the disciples worshipped, named Jesus. 5. Pagan religions (Babylon, Assyria) had triads of gods. The Trinity came from these. Jesus said to baptize in the names of the Father, Son, and Spirit. Also, a triad of gods is polytheism, not the Trinity. 6. If God and Trinity mean the same thing, how about John 1:1? Same answer as question 9. 7. In Deut 6:4 The Lord is One and not Three. One in essence, but not one without distinction. 8. If the Trinity is true, Christ must be 1/3 God. This is human reasoning. The height of a desk is not 1/3 of a desk. 9. The Bible differentiates between Jesus and God in See verses such as Rev 3:14, Col 1:15, John 14:28, John 3:16 and many places. God/gods sometimes refers to: 1. the Trinity, 2. the Father, 3. the Son, 4. the Spirit, 5. all who are called God, both true and false. 10. But 1 Cor 8:35 and John 10:5 say there are many gods. There are many who are called gods. It also says for us their is but one God. 11. Since Isaiah 9:6 says Jesus is the Everlasting Father and Wonderful Counselor, then there is only one person in the Godhead: Jesus. He is the father of our salvation, and the Father is in Jesus, but they are still distinct. 12. I would refuse to worship any father that sent his own boy to be tortured and die instead of himself. That is a pity. The Father not only did that, He also asked Abraham if he would be willing to do that. 13. Jesus was less than the Father in John 14:28, did not know everything in Matt 24:36, learned obedience Heb 5:8, and He Himself had to ask the Father for things in John 17:5. Clearly Jesus is less than the Father, without the all-knowing, almighty attributes of God. Agreed ¾ on earth. Php 2:7 shows that Jesus voluntarily emptied Himself to come to earth. Before He came, and now, He has the fullness of godhood. (Col 1:19) 14. If the Father is now Jesus' God in John 20:17, and Heb 1:9, then how can Jesus be God? Jesus is equal in nature and honor, in a similar way as a father and son on earth are equal. However, He submitted to the Father and obeyed, as a father and son on earth. 15. If Jesus is the firstborn of God's creation in Col 1:15, Heb 1:6; 12:23, then He must be a created being, which is not to be worshipped in Rom 1:25. Jesus' body was created, but all things were created though Him. 16. In many places in Acts (10:48, etc.) people are baptized in the name of Jesus; it never mentions baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. So does that mean the name in Matt 28:19 is Jesus? 17. Did the early Church Fathers believe in the Trinity? All of the Orthodox Church fathers did, except that Clement of Rome was silent on this. 18. I just refuse to accept a God that I cannot fully understand in my own mind. We cannot answer this, as it comes from a hardness of heart. Moon's misrepresentation of the Trinity, and denial of the real Trinity are a poison that soaks through the apple. www.BibleQuery.org. MoonStruck An Analysis of Rev. Moon's Unification Church Part 4 : Parts They Might Argue With An ex-Unification member told he heard a local leader tell a reporter that they do not believe Rev. Moon is Christ returned. That really bothered him, and he asked the leader why he said that when they really do believe Moon is Christ returned. The leader said, "that was the best answer I could give to him at that time." The Unification church believes in "heavenly deception" or lying for a good cause. The following chart is an outline of all the errors listed in the fourth part. Not important to obey Jesus' words anymore Downplays Christ's Blood Deceitful Bible Interpretation John the Baptist failed Jesus Religion is good Man is the measure of all things Universalism; All, even Satan, get saved Heavenly deception Pursue happiness; who cares if it is true Not important to obey Jesus' words anymore: DP p.131 "Jesus did not say that His word was the truth but that he himself was the truth, way and the life (John 14:6). This is because His words were only a means of expressing himself as the truth... We can understand that the New Testament was given as a textbook for the teaching of truth to the people of 2,000 years ago... In consequence, today the truth must appear with a higher standard and with a scientific method of expression in order to enable intelligent modern men to understand it." Refuted: Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." Luke 21:22 "Jesus replied, 'If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. ... He who does not love me will not obey my teaching." This, too, showed that in the future Jesus would come and save God's chosen people through miracles and signs." Refuted: Heb 9:11-15 "He [Christ] did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. ... How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised the eternal inheritance..." Heb 7:25-26 "Therefore he [Jesus] is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our need- one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens." ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Deceitful Bible Interpretation: DP p.507 "We recall that a bird of prey alighted on the pigeon not cut in two on Abraham's altar (Gen 15:11). Refuted: Gen 15:11 just says carcasses, not a pigeon. DP p.512-512 "To know this, we must first understand the meaning of the word "clouds." We read in Rev 1:7 ..." Refuted: Dan 7:13 "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven." DP p.514 "Then we may understand that the clouds would signify the devout saints, whose minds are always in heaven and not on earth, completely reborn from the fallen race of men. Again, 'cloud' is often used, either in the Bible or in the classics, as a word representing a crowd (Heb 12:1)." Refuted: Acts 1:9-11 "After [Jesus] said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 'Men of Galilee', they said, 'why do you stand here look-ing into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heav-en, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.' " DP p.242 "Let us take an example from the Bible. God said to Cain, 'If you do not do well, sin is couching [DP spelling] at the door.' (Gen 4:7) From this, we may understand that Cain was placed in a position to deal with Satan." Refuted: Gen 4:7 really says, "Then the LORD said to Cain, 'Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.' " Cain was not in a position of 'dealing' with Satan. He was in temptation and should be dealing with God. DP p.256 "After another seven days, Noah sent out the dove the third time. It is written that this time the dove did not come back to the ark because the water had dried up (Gen 8:12). The third dove symbolized the Lord of the Second Advent who would come as the third Adam." Refuted: The Bible never said it referred to a false Messiah. It never said it referred to a true Messiah either. Rev. Moon has a rather high view of himself. DP p.225 "For example, Abraham, when he had failed in offering the sacrifices of the dove, ram and heifer, had to offer his only son Isaac because of the additional price of the condition of indemnity." Refuted: The Bible never made up any stories saying Abraham sacrificed wrong in Gen 15:10-17, or linking this to Isaac. At the very least, Rev. Moon should say he has novel teaching and not give the impression it is the Bible that is saying that. DP p.241-242 "Eve's fall consisted of two kinds of illicit love affairs. The first one was the spiritual fall through love with the archangel [Lucifer]. The second was the physical fall through love with Adam.... Cain and Abel were the fruits of Eve's illicit love." Refuted: Nothing in the Bible indicates that eating the fruit was other than eating the fruit. Rev. Moon tries to blame the action, when the significance was disobeying God. ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¹ John the Baptist Failed Jesus: DP p.161 "...John the Baptist who had offended Jesus. How did John the Baptist offend him? John failed to carry out his mission of serving and ministering to Jesus." Refuted: John 10:41-42 shows that John's testimony led many to believe in Jesus. We should be cautious in condemning a martyr who died for God as failing and offending God. Jesus saying the one who is least in the kingdom heaven is greater than [John the Baptist] refers to the fact that Jesus had not opened the way to heaven, and John the Baptist was actually the last prophet under the old covenant. If John failed in his teaching, then why in Matt 21:32 did Jesus say the people were to believe John the Baptist? ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Religion is good: DP p.9 "Religion came into existence as the means to accomplish the purpose of goodness in following the way of God... according to the intention of the original mind. Jonah 2:8 "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs." Jer 2:5 "...They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves."
