Biblical Insight to Tough Questions: Volume 1
5.00 out of 5 stars
Description
To transform culture for Christ, we must transform people. But human persuasion alone is insufficient to change the human heart. Fortunately, God's Spirit can utilize God's Word to convict us of sin and revolutionize our souls. As the Lord promises in Isaiah 55:11, "my word... will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." In a world that has rejected absolute truth, "every word of God proves true" (Proverbs 30:5). When engaging cultural issues with biblical truth, we must be confident in the Bible's authenticity. We need to be able to articulate why we trust its words and respond to questions about Scripture, such as: Where did God originate? Is there only one path to God? Are there contradictions in the Bible? How do we know Jesus is the Son of God? Can we believe in miracles today? What happens to those who have never heard of Jesus? Is hell real, and how could a loving God condemn anyone to it? What is the "unforgivable" sin? What does the Bible say about homosexuality? How can I discern God's will? N.T. Wright, a renowned scholar, has a simple yet profound motto: "The Bible is the book of my life. It's the book I live with, the book I live by, the book I want to die by." As 1 Peter 3:15 instructs, "always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." May this material equip you to respond to tough questions with "gentleness and respect."
